T. D. jakes

Thomas Dexter Jakes Sr., also known as T. D. Jakes and born on 9th June 1975, has been a U.S. filmmaker, author, and pastor. He has been working as a pastor in The Potter’s House which is a non-denominational megachurch of the USA. The sermons and services of Jake broadcast on The Potter’s Touch are aired on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, the Daystar Television Network, The World Network, and Black Entertainment Television. He played host to the T.D. Jakes Show until it was canceled in the month of March 2017. He is reported to have led the service of early Morning Prayer for President Barack Obama on 20th January 2009 at the Church of St John in Washington.


Personal Life

T.D. Jakes took birth in South Charleston, West Virginia, and spent his early life in Vandalia where he attended the local churches. He was born to Ernest Jakes and Odith Jakes. He invested most of his time of the teenage years in tending his ailing and invalid father. He joined West Virginia State University but continued preaching in churches available in the vicinity on a part-time basis.

However, he soon left the University, to take a job locally in a Union Carbide Factory. Later, he attended Friends International Christian University from where he got the degree called Doctor of Ministry in Religious Studies in 1995. He kept preaching at the same time on a part-time basis. The nationality of Jakes is American while his ethnicity is African-American.

During those days, Jakes came across a girl named Serita Jamison whom he dated for some time before tying the knot. They married in the month of May 1982. They have been blessed with five offspring. The names of those children are Jamar Jakes, Thomas Jakes, Jr., Jermaine Jakes, Cora Jakes-Colman, and Sarah Jakes Roberts. Jakes and Serita are leading a happy married life with children. There is no rumor of any extra-marital affairs. Jakes has not divorced his wife as yet.

Career

Jakes was initially employed with a Union Carbide Factory and preached at the same time. Also, he was appointed a Pastor of Greater Emanuel Temple of Faith in the year 1982. Jakes then started a radio ministry entitled The Master’s Plan. He was then designated as minister of Higher Ground Assembly. He also started a TV ministry called Get Ready which was broadcast on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, and Black Entertainment Television. The Potter’s House had just 100 members initially, but it now boasted of 30000 members. Jakes also hosted the show entitled “T.D. Jakes” which had to be canceled after some time owing to low clearances and poor ratings.

As a writer, Jakes has written many books and they include “Intimacy With God”, “Loved by”, “loose That Man And Let Him Go”, “Lay Aside the Weight”, and “Soar’ to name just a few. His filmography includes “Not Easily Broken”, “Woman Thou Art Loosed”, “Jumping the Broom”, “Heaven Is for Real”, “Miracles from Heaven”, and “Not Easily Broken”. Jakes has achieved many doctorates, has degrees, and awards during his career. As per his biography, his net worth is estimated at $147 million.
