Samantha Ponder, born on 11th December 1985, has been a U.S. sportscaster. Presently, she has been working with ESPN and hosting Sunday NFL Countdown. Ponder reported/hosted college football on ESPN, and basketball, too, before joining Sunday NFL Countdown. She hosted, in place of Erin Andrews, college football and baseball on ESPN.


Ponder has also worked as sideline reporter of Thursday Night College Football of ESPN along with Jesse Palmer, Rece Davis, and David Pollack between 2012 and 2014. Ponder also worked with Longhorn Network, a regional network. Ponder is nicknamed as Sam Ponder.

Ponder took birth in Phoenix, Arizona, where she spent her early age. She was born to father Jerry Steele and mother Cindi Steele. Ponder has two brothers namely Baron Steele and Jerrod Jefferson “JJ”. She joined Central High School there in Phoenix. After completion of her studies in the high school, she studied at The King’s College in New York City. While studying in the college she submitted an application for the post of a hostess at ESPN Zone.

Ponder is a married woman. She dated her boyfriend Christian Ponder for some time before tying the knot on 17th December 2012. The marriage ceremony was held in Hudson Wisconsin. Christian Ponder has been a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL).

She began to host the shows on ESPN with her married name from 1st January 2013. They have been blessed with three children; two daughters and a son. The first daughter born in July 2014 has been named Bowden Sainte-Claire “Scout”. The second child is a boy born in June 2017 named Robinson True Ponder, and the third one a female child born in July 2018 is named Price. Ponder has been leading a peaceful married life with husband and children, and has not divorced her husband as yet.Ponder is 5 feet and 6 inches in height, and weighs 54 kg. While studying in college in New York City, Ponder had submitted an application for the post of a hostess in the ESPN Zone where she came in contact with Ben Keeperman who had been the manager of ABC Sports Radio, and researcher of college football. This meeting culminated in Ponder getting an internship at that network.

This internship led Ponder to have a job as researcher-assistant with ABC-TV. She switched allegiance to Liberty University where she had been offered the post of sideline reporter for the television network entitled Liberty Flames. She left Liberty in 2009 and worked with Fox College Sports and Fox Sports Net as a reporter for Big 12 and Pac-10. Ponder joined Longhorn Network of ESPN on 7th July 2011 in the post of a sideline reporter.

She shifted to Austin, Texas, after accepting the assignment at Longhorn Network.
