Matt Lauer was born in 1957 on one day before New Year's Eve, the 30th day of December. He was born and raised in New York City, New York. Matt Laurer is also known as Matthew Todd Lauer, and Todd being his middle name. He was born to a Romanian Jewish father Jay Rober Lauer and Christian mother Marylin Kolmer. His father was an executive at a bicycle manufacturing company. His mother was working as a boutique shop owner and an ex fashion model . Matt's grandfather Art Gentry was a part of Eton Boy, a popular vocal quartet. Matt Lauer has a sister. Her name is April Lauer Stone. She was born in 1953. His parents underwent divorce while he was a child. After separation from Lauer's father, his mother remarried Richard Kolmer. Matt Lauer left New York City in order to study at Ohio university. He was the student of School of Media Arts and Studies. He got his degree in 1997, at 39 years of age.

The reason why he didn't graduate in at his younger year is because he was hired for internship in the Spring of 1979. He was just 4 credits away from graduation.

He graduated and obtained his degree in 1997. His graduation work was on his work experience.

Career experience

In the Spring of 1979, just 4 steps away from his graduation Matt left college and got an internship. He got himself internship at WOWK-TV in West Virginia. Lauer only accepted internship in order to pursue his dreams and it paid off to him.

In the year 1980 he began working as a live TV reporter. Later he spent the whole decade of the 1980s doing various reporter gigs on the East Coast of The United States - Boston, Philadelphia, Providence and Richmond. In that time he also wrote for several news and magazines.

After his East Coast tour he came back to New York City. In New York he was a host of several talk shows.

He became the co-host of the on-air TV show 9 Broadway Plaza in 1989. During his career on 9 Way Plaza he became one of the most liked news anchors.

In 1992 he signed a contract with NBC to be a co-host of two shows - Live at Five and Today in New York. The reasons NBC signed him on the shows were his good look, charm an on-camera presence.

The major event of his career was when he became full-time news anchor for The Today Show in 1994.

He also worked on the Discovery Channel and MSNBC.

During his career, he interviewed George Bush for three times. He also interviewed Prince Harry and Prince William, Sarah Palin, Michelle Obama, Barack Obama and many other notable people.

Personal life

Matt has married twice. First, he was the husband of Nancy Aspaugh from 1981 to 1988, with whom he had no children.

For a short period of time, he was engaged to Kristen Gesswein.

After failed engagement with Kristen Gesswein in 1996, he got in marriage with Annete Roque, a model, in 1996.

They have three kids. Their first child was a son named Jack Matthew Lauer, born in 2001. Second to come was daughter Romy, born in 2003. Their last, third child, son Thijs was born in 2006.
