Career

At the age of 3 Mae began her career, she gave a voice over in an advertisement she did for Tyson Chicken. In 1994, When a Man Loves a Woman was the first film she appeared in starring Meg Ryan. In 1996, she got chance to work in two movies Independence Day and One Fine Day. In 2001 and 2002 she was part of a TV series named State of Grace, she played the role of Catholic girl grace.

In 2004 to 2008 she played role of Ann Veal in popular TV series Arrested Development. Mae made an appearance in season 9 of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Mae also gave her voice for Katara a character in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Mae appeared in a HBO TV show In Treatment as Rosie.

In 2009, Mae appeared in another TV show named Parenthood playing the role of Amber Holt a rebellious teen. Mae also played role of Roxy Richter in the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. In 2012, she played major role in the movie The Perks of being a Wallflower with Logan Lerman Ezra Miller and Emma Watson.

Mae has also recorded few songs in Album School’s Out Christmas. She also appeared in videos of I was Fool and Boyfriend sung by Sara and Tegan. In 2015, she gave her voice in web series DC Super Hero Girls as Batgirl. In 2014, she was in an Audio book named City of Bones: The Mortal Instruments as Clary Fray.

She has won many awards over the years. In 1996, she won young artist award for her role in One Fine Day. In 1998, she again won young artist award for her role in Hope Floats. For her role in An American Rhapsody she won young artist award in 2001. In 2012, she won San Diego Film Critics Society Award for her role in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
