Lynda Baquero

Lynda Baquero, born as Lynda LaVergne on 16th January 1967, has been a U.S. correspondent of WNBC News. Lynda has submitted a number of reports for the WNBC both from abroad and at home. She also traveled to Puerto Rico from where she reported about the tourism and economy of the island. Lynda has also been hosting the series entitled “Visions” which focuses on issues related to the Hispanic community.


Lynda has worked with WNJU-TV, WCAU-TV, and WCBS-TV as an associate producer in her career as a journalist. She went to Mexico and Spain for on-the-spot productions while she had been associated with WNJU-TV.

Personal Life

Lynda took birth in New York City, USA, and spent her early life in Manhattan, her hometown. She is of American nationality and of Puerto Rican descent. There is nothing on record about her parents and family background. Lynda attended the Cathedral High School. After finishing her studies at the high school, she joined New York University from where she obtained Bachelor of Arts Degree, with specialization in broadcast journalism.

Lynda, the reporter of WNBC News, is a married woman. She has tied the knot with Richard Baquero in 1997. Richard, her husband, is an interior designer and owns an interior designing firm entitled RAB/ID Design situated in Manhattan. Lynda and Richard have been enjoying their togetherness of over two decades. They have been blessed with two daughters namely Illeana born in 2003 and Carolina born in 2005. Lynda and Richard went to Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah, along with their two daughters, and enjoyed bike ride and skiing during the winter of January 2018. She has not divorced her husband as yet.

Career

Lynda started her career with WCBS, a local station, with which she remained associated for around five years. At WCBS, she had been responsible for almost all the work of newsrooms such as desk assistant, researcher, editor, and associate producer. After that, she signed with NY 1 News, a news network, as an anchor for news and reporter. She worked with NY 1 News for about three years. At NY 1, she had been writing, researching, editing, and shooting even her own reports. She became associated with WNBC in 1995. In 1996, Baquero had been elevated to the position of co-anchor of Today in New York which has been a news program broadcast every weekend. Lynda remained associated with this program for around two years after which she started hosting evening newscast of the station every weekend. Lynda also co-anchored “News 4 New York at 6 pm” along with David Ushery.

As for awards and accolades, Lynda has been awarded Emmy Award two times. She got the award for the first time in 1998 for covering the Pope John Paul II’s visit to Cuba and second time in 2007 for “Best Evening Newscast”. As per her biography, Lynda’s net worth is estimated at $1 million.
