Born on February 13, 1968, to Father Hebert Hu and mother Juanita in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kelly Ann Hu spent most of her childhood days growing up with his brother Glenn in Hawaii. Kelly is of Chinese, Hawaiian and English ancestry. Her father was a salesman, and her mother was an engineering drafter, who had to do many odd jobs to support her family. Her parents got divorced when she was just a kid. She did her schooling from the Ma’ema’e Elementary school in Honolulu, Hawaii. She then went on to complete her studies from the Kamehameha Schools situated in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her interest in acting was ignited at a very young age and long with acting she was interested in singing as well as dancing. She also developed an interest in the martial arts and is trained in it.


She started her career as a model when she decided to participate in the Miss Hawaii Teen USA and went on to win the title. She also won the Miss Teen USA in the year 1985. Following her victory in the Miss Teen USA, she shifted to Los Angeles in the year 1987 to pursue her acting career.

Her acting career began when she was cast for the role of Melia in the 1987 television show Growing Pains. She worked in another television show Night Court in the following year where she played the role of Krista. She made her movie debut with the 1989 movie Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan where she portrayed the role of Eva Watanabe.

In a career spanning around three decades, she has done a lot of movies. Her most popular role until now has been in the movie The Scorpion King where she portrayed the role of Cassandra in the year 2002 and Cradle 2 the Grave where she played the role of Sona in the year 2003. She has appeared in several movies which includes The Door as Dorothy in 1991, Surf Ninjas as Ro-May in 1993, X2 as Yuriko Oyama in 2003, Undoing as Vera in 2006, Shanghai Kiss as Micki Young in 2007, Stiletto as Detective Hanover in 2008, The Tournament as Lai Lai Zhen in 2009, Almost Perfect as Vanessa Lee in 2001 and Kepler’s Dream as Irene in 2016.

She has also appeared in several television series which includes Tour of Duty as Vietnamese DJ in 1989, Maybe This Time as Jennifer in 1995, Sunset Beach as Rae Chang in 1997, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Kelly Sun in 2008, The Spectacular Spider-man as Sha Shan Nguyen in 2009, The Vampire Diaries as Pearl in 2010, Arrow as China White in 2012 and Being Mary Jane in 2015.

She was dating Ahmad Ali Moussaul, an investment banker in the year 1989, but the couple separated in the year 1996. There was a rumour that they were married, and Ahmad was her husband, but nothing was confirmed. She then went on to date Mitch Allan, and they have been together for several years now. She doesn’t have any children, and there is no news of any divorce. According to her biography, her net worth is around $10, Million.
