James Roday

James Roday was born on the 4th of April 1977 in San Antonio, Texas to Jaime Rodriguez who is of Mexican origin and Irene Rodriguez of mixed Scottish, Irish and English root. His birth name was James David Rodriguez which he changed to James Roday on entering the acting industry.


His father worked as an Air Force Master Sergeant from where he retired a few years ago. He attended the William Howard Taft High school in San Antonio -WH Taft school is a public high school located in the Northside Independent School District (NISD) of San Antonio, Texas, United States.

Roday went further to attend the New York University where he attained a Bachelors of Science in fine arts from the theatre department of the New York University. James was in a relationship with Maggie Lawson -his Psych co-star between 2006 to 2014. Maggie then went on to marry fellow actor Ben Koldyle in 2015; they however secured a divorce 2 years into their marriage. Roday is not known to have been married at any time in his life and is single with his present love affair undisclosed.

Career

Roday made his acting career debut in theatre performances, the earliest ones include The Three Sister, Severity's Mistress, and A Respectable Wedding. He began acting in the film Coming Soon where he acted as Chad. James featured, in 1999 in Ryan Caulfied: Year one as Vic. He was the producer, director, and writer of the series film Psych where he acted as Shawn Spencer. He has written and directed about 10 movies, notable ones aside Psych include Shoot The Moon, Pilot, (2014) and Quest For Truth (2015).

James was also a co-writer and director for Treehouse which was recently released. He was said to have changed his name from James Rodriguez to James Roday as there was already another actor in the industry known by the former name.

Awards

Roday has been nominated for a total of 10 awards, two of which he won. At the second Annual Timmy Awards in 2012, Roday won the award for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He also won in the same year, at the Imagen Awards, the award for the Best Actor in a television series for his role in the movie Psych.

The actor was first nominated for an award in 2016 by the Satellite Awards for the Best Actor in a Series, Comedy or Musical for Psych. He was again nominated in 2008 by the NCLR ALMA Awards. He had other multiple award nominations like the EWwy and ALMA Awards for different roles played in Psych. He was named in 2007, by People's magazine as number 62 in their 100 Most beautiful people. Roday is estimated to have a net worth of 3 million dollars.
