The multi-talented personality Glynn Turman signed his first acting role at the age of thirteen when he portrayed Travis Younger in the classic ‘A Raisin in the Sun’. He got to work alongside some big names in the Hollywood film industry like Claudia McNeil, Sidney Poitier, Ivan Dixos and Ruby Dee. After completing his graduation, Glynn Turman trained in various companies situated all across the country which included the famous ‘Repertory Theatre’ wherein he enacted in the late 60s productions of ‘The Visit’, ‘Good Boys’, ‘The House of Atreus’ and ‘Harper’s Ferry’.

Glynn Turman earned a Los Angeles Critics Award and a Dramalogue Award nomination for his performance in ‘The Wine Sellers’. His outstanding work in ‘Eyes of the American’ earned him his first NAACP Image Award. Being a talented stage director has won Glynn his second NAACP Image Award for his direction of the film ‘Deadwood Dick’. He took his directing talent to the next level when he began directing television shows such as ‘The WayansBros’, ‘Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper’ and ‘The Parent Hood’.

When his career was at it’s peak, he directed ‘A Different World’ in which he portrayed Colonel Taylor for five long seasons starting from 1988. Surprisingly, the theme song of this show was actually sung by his ex-wife Aretha Franklin and was called ‘Queen of Soul’.
