Background

Giuliana Rancic was born on August 17, 1975 in Naples, Campania, Italy. She has two siblings in her family tree. When she was a child, her family moved to Washington D.C., the capital city of the United States.

As a child, she could only speak Italian. By watching television shows she taught herself English. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. degree in journalism and went on to do her Masters degree in the same subject at the American University in Washington.

Career

A week after she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Journalism, she moved to Los Angeles. In Hollywood, her first job was in the mail room working for Michael Ovitz. Her wages were not high and she made deliveries to popular stars like Martin Scorsese and Leonardo Di Caprio.

Rancic’s career has involved numerous fields in the entertainment industry. She worked for Detour magazine and also reported about The Pentagon and White House. In 1995, she worked as a co-host for E! News Live. Her work at the E Network was the key to her her success and there she made a name for herself.

Rancic has been in every aspect of the entertainment industry, be it in print media such as books and magazines, television or films. On the small screen, she has done various guest shows and in films. She has done scenes in Malibu’s Most Wanted in 2003 and Paparazzi in 2004. She appeared in a commercial for Comcast Hollywood Triple Play, with Shaquille O’Neal and Ben Stein. In June 2006, Rancic released her book, Think Like a Guy: How to Get a Guy by Thinking Like One. It is a must-read book for women who are in the initial stages of a romantic relationship.

Rancic hosted the Miss USA 2011 Beauty Pageant on NBC. In 2003, she was voted as one among Maxim Magazine’s Hot 100 and in 2006, she was featured in People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful Women. Another of her accomplishments is the founding of FabFitFun. It is a health, beauty and fashion site for women.

Personal Life

Between 2001 and 2004, Giuliana dated Jerry O’Connell and they got engaged. However, they were still not well established in their respective careers which led to relationship issues. Giuliana said she broke up with Jerry because he was too possessive.

She later went on to marry Bill Rancic in 2007 and they have a son named Edward Duke. The marriage took place at Santa Sophia Church in Anacapri, Capri, Italy. In 2010, she miscarried when she was 9 weeks into her pregnancy.

In October 2011, Giuliana was diagnosed with breast cancer in its early stage. She was treated for it and underwent surgery. A week later, she returned to work. However, by early December the same year, she decided to undergo a double mastectomy. Her son was born through surrogacy on August 29, 2012. The couple tried for another child through the same surrogate mother, Delphine. However this time, the surrogate mother miscarried in the ninth week of pregnancy.
