Gerald Green is a professional basketball player. He is playing for Houston Rockets in the National Basketball Association. He had his right finger cut off due to a childhood accident.


Personal Life

Born on January 26th, 1986, in Houston Texas, Gerald is a professional Basketball player and loved basketball, since childhood. He had a childhood accident that resulted in him in his loss of ring finger as he wore a ring while playing and in an attempt to dunk his ring got caught onto a nail and resulted in an amputation of his finger. Gerald has a younger brother called Garlon who is also playing in the Basketball League Belgium Division for Belfius Mons Hainaut.

Gerald did not play basketball when he was in high school until his sophomore year although he made junior the junior varsity team but was cut short as he had some issues in his academic field. He repeated his junior year at Gulf Shores Academy in Houston and joined the basketball team. His average score was 33 points, 7 assists, 12 rebounds per game.

Green was a high scorer in the 2005 McDonalds All-American Game with a score of 24. By Rivals.com, he was considered as a five-star recruit and was listed once as number 1 in the nation. He enters the NBA after graduation from the Oklahoma State University and hired an agent. He firmly stands at a height of 6 inches 7 feet weighing around 90-95 kg.

Career

Gerald Green entered the NBA right after college. He played for Boston Celtics with an average point of 8, 1.3 rebounds per game in 2005. He appeared in 32 games for Boston Celtics and had an average point of 5.2 and 1.2 rebounds.

On February 17th 2007, Green won the 2007 NBA Slam Dunk Contest and the season was going well for him and in March 2007, he scored a high point of 25 in Celtics loss to the Dallas Mavericks but he topped that with 33 points in a game held in Atlanta. In 2007, he was now a part of the Minnesota Timberwolves, till 2008. He then played for Houston Rockets in 2008. Dallas Mavericks in 2008-09 and played outside of NBA between 2009-2011.

On December 13th, 2013, he signed a contract with LA Lakers with an option to return to the NBA but was waived on December 22nd. Soon after, he signed with NBA D-League All-Star Game Most Valuable Player. He broke a high point obtained by Erie BayHawks as he had an average point of 19.1 with 2.6 rebounds. Gerald was also in New Jersey Nets for a 10-day contract in 2012.

In 2013, he started out for Phoenix Suns as their guards Eric Bledsoe and Gran Dragic were injured and could not play. Thereafter, he signed with Miami Heat in 2015 and made his debut with a game against Charlotte Hornets scoring a point of 19 in a 104-94 win. He then returned to Boston Celtics in 2016 till 2017. After Boston Celtics, he then again signed with Milwaukee Bucks in 2017. He is now in Houston Rockets. According to several sources, his net worth is estimated to be around $75 million.
