Scientologist Controversy

Brie is a known scientologist and came under fire when a fellow member named Danny Masterson got in trouble with rape allegations. The Church of Scientology had been passing a petition around for its members to sign. There were reports that the church was putting pressure on their members to sign it in order to cancel the show of former Scientology member Leah Remini who had been exposing the Church to the public and media.

Brie’s husband Michael is also part of the church but he was not directly involved with the controversy that was attached to her. She actively shared Ram Sharma’s petition but made some changes to it. The original title of the petition was “Cancel A&E’s ‘Leah Remini Scientology and the Aftermath'” but when she shared the post, she changed the title to “Stand with Daniel Masterson”

Leah Remini’s show had not mentioned the Scientologist and That ’70s Show actor Danny Masterson or the investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department regarding allegations of rape by three different women who were all Scientologists when they claimed that they were attacked by Masterson between 2001 and 2003.

Remini has shown her support for the three victims and also spoke with the LAPD detective in charge of the investigation. Even though she did her part behind the scenes, she did not speak about it publicly on her show.

Some people against the Church of Scientology investigated Brie’s post and found out she was listed in the police report as a witness to one of Danny Masterson’s alleged rape incidents.

A woman known as “Victim B” reported her alleged rape to the Los Angeles Police Department In 2004. When she was asked to provide names of witnesses that could confirm her story, the first person she named and the first person listed on the police report was Brie Shaffer.

The only logical conclusion that could be drawn was that Brie was trying to hide her own tracks. She knows that her name is on the report and wants the case to go away as quietly as possible.
