Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn was born under the name of Audrey Kathleen Ruston in the year 1929 and died in the year 1993. She was a humanitarian, dancer, model and a British actress. She was recognized to be the fashion and film icon. She was active during the Golden Age of Hollywood. American film institute ranked her like third greatest female screen legend of the Golden Age Hollywood. She got inducted into the Hall of Fame of International Best Dressed list.


Career

Audrey Hepburn was born in the city of Ixelles of Brussels. She spent her childhood in England, Netherlands and Belgium. She did studies in Ballet under Sonia Gaskell and moved to London in the year 1948 and continued to train under Marie Rambert. She performed like a chorus girl for West End musical theater production. After some minor appearances in many films, she was in the Broadway and played as Gigi. This is after she got spotted by a French Novelist named Colette and the play was based on her work.

Audrey Hepburn became a star when she played the lead role of the Roman holiday. For the role, she was able to win the BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award and Academy Award. In that year, she also won the Best Lead Actress in a Play Tony Award for the role she had in Ondine. She continued her appearances and appeared in Wait Until Dark, My fair Lady, Charade, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Nun’s Story and Sabrina.

Biography

From her bio, Audrey Hepburn was born to Joseph Victor Anthony Hepburn-Ruston who was born in Auschitz , Bohemia of Austria-Hungary. He was honorary British Consul of Semarang for Dutch East Indies. He was married to a Dutch Heiress named Cornelia Bisschop before. Her mother is called Baroness Ella Van Heemstra and her father was Baron Aarnoud Van Heemstra. He served like a mayor of the Arnhem since 1910 up to 1920. The father left the family in the year 1937 and her parents divorced in the year 1938. She got into the contact again with her father in 1960s and she had to support him until the time he died.

Married, husband, children

In the year 1952, Audrey Hepburn got engaged but the wedding did not push through because she was still busy with her career. It was to James Hanson. She also dated producer Michael Butler. She got married to Mel Ferrer, a fellow actor who appeared with her in Ondine. She suffered two miscarriages before giving birth to her son Sean Hepburn Ferrer in the year 1960 and had other two miscarriages afterwards which prevented the couple against having more children. She got married to Andrea Dotti and they have another son together Luca Dotti, but suffered another miscarriage afterwards. She divorced her in 1992. She started to date Robert Wolders up to the time she died.

Death

She died in after suffering a rare abdominal cancer in the year 1993, at the age of 64, she would have been 89 years now.
