Winter Ave Zoli was born on June 28, 1980, in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Winter is of Slovak descent. Winter's family moved to the Czech Republic when she was 11. Winter completed her middle and high school from International School of Prague. Winter also studied ballet, but she developed a love for the stage and she moved and became part of a musical theater. Winter worked in American and European productions when she was 13. Then at the age of 17, she attended summer school theater program in Carnegie-Mellon. Winter then enrolled in New York’s acting school, the Atlantic Theater Company.

After Winter completed the professional program, she moved to Los Angeles. Winter then appeared in Sex and Death 101 film in 2007 and portrayed the character of Alexis. The actress also got the leading role in the movie The Pagan Queen, and she gained more recognition internationally when she played the role of Lyla Winston in Sons of Anarchy, the American Series. In March 2011 edition of Playboy magazine, she posted a nude picture and said that nudity is never a problem to her.
