Simon Helberg

Simon Maxwell Helberg is an American actor and comedian. Helberg is best known for his role as Howard Wolowitz in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

Childhood and Early Life

On December 9, 1980, Simon Helberg was born in Los Angeles, California. His mother, Harriet Helberg, was a famous casting director, and his father, Sandy Helberg, actor. With his family deeply rooted in the entertainment industry, Simon drew his attention towards acting from a very early age. He aspired to become an actor someday, so, with the focus, he watched a lot of television, learning the guideline of acting. Simon used to complete his homework as fast as possible to sit down in front of the television and watch it every night. Simon also had other interests, he trained for Karate, and at the age of nine, he received his black belt.

Simon Helberg was a man of many talents and skills, his continual ambitions to learn as much as possible was a gift he innated. He loved music, so he trained to be better at it. He began and assembled a music band during his middle school.

During high school, Simon developed and became passionate about building a career as a professional actor. To fulfill his quest, he enrolled at New York's famous 'Tisch School of Arts.' After his graduation, he went to Los Angeles to make a career as a comedian. He met renowned comedian Derek Waters and started his career with him.

Early Career

Simon began his career in 1999, with a small appearance role in the film 'Mumford.' In 2001, he initiated his tv career with another small appearance in series like 'Popular' and 'Cursed.' He starred in the pilot episode of the series 'Ruling Class.' Still, the series didn't get picked up.

As mentioned, he and Derek began appearing in comedy sketches in the early 2000s. The duo became well known and was famous for their on-stage chemistry and comedic timing. It led him to sign a deal with 'MADtv' in 2002, where he played various roles in their comedy sketches.

For the five episodes he did, Simon received critical appreciation for his performance from various critics.

Simon in 2002, featured in 'Van Wilder' as one of the geeky kids in class. The film that starred Ryan Reynolds managed to make some money at the box office.

In 2007, when web series were considered highly, Simon and his long-term friend Derek collaborated for a web series, 'Derek & Simon,' contrary to popular belief. The web series that appeared on the website 'Super Deluxe' became super successful. 

The same year Simon starred in a career-defining and altering role in the sitcom 'The Big Bang Theory.' The series became hugely popular and earned him a 'Critics' choice television award for 'Best supporting actor in a comedy series.'

Personal Life

Simon and actress Jocelyn Towne dated for quite some time before getting married in 2007. The pair had a daughter in 2012 and a son in 2014.
