Microsoft or Sony? Xbox One or PlayStation 4? The battle is forever going. No reason to fuel the fire; each company and their respective consoles, come with ups and downs. One of the downs of Xbox one is its lack of exclusives, when comparing to its rival.
Every self-respecting console fan knows that for a fact so far and it seems that we were all okay with it. Except not. IGN, the major gaming platform felt the need to point that out, amidst a celebration of a PS4 God of War exclusive – which has gathered plenty of walkthroughs by the way; let us know in the comments if you’d like to see some here as well!
The joke began as a picture that was posted on Instagram and Facebook. It showed a screenshot of GoW on the left half while the right half, which supposedly belonged to the Xbox One, was pitch black. The post was taken down soon after.
Thankfully, IGN is a respected platform and on that grounds the head of the editorial team Ryan McCaffrey rushed to Twitter to publicly apologize to Microsoft on behalf of his team. The tweet read: “I would like to sincerely apologize to the Xbox team as well as the Xbox community on behalf of the @IGN editorial team. The Facebook and Instagram posts were unprofessional and classless and made without my knowledge. The posts will be deleted ASAP. @aarongreenberg @XboxQwik”.
Calling a move of your own team classless really shows how much it must have affected you. Aaron Greenberg on the other hand, Microsoft’s Games Marketing strategist and better known as Aaron ‘Greenbeard’ – don’t ask why though – replied underneath Ryan’s tweet saying “Thanks Ryan, appreciate the note and follow up”.
It seems like no harm done after all. Of course, Xbox still has a major issue when it comes to first-party games; but at least IGN is not going to make a big deal out of it again in the future.
As Sony and the PS4 console, it proudly welcomed the new exclusive title some hours ago and the first impressions already seem quite promising. But apart from riding high with this success, Sony is allegedly about to introduce some exciting price drops to numerous titles, with the sales ranging from $20 to $40!
