Tim Lewis was born on December 18, 1961 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. There is quite a little information about his early years and family, no details about parents or siblings as well. He attended the Pennridge High School. Afterwards, since 1979, he studied at the University of Pittsburgh. During his College years he continued football career and even reached some success. He graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Economics in the 1983.


He started his professional career in the early 80s. In the 1983, right after College, he was picked by the Green Bay Packers team during the NFL draft. Being a standout cornerback, Tim was considered to be one of the more skilled players on what was a relatively weak Packers team. He led or shared the team in interceptions in 1983 & 1985, finishing with a career total of 16. His 99-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams on November 18, 1984, remains the Packer team record.

In fact, his career as a cornerback player was pretty short. According to the NFL statistic, Tim played in the 51 games. He played for the Green Bay Packers team just for three years until 1986. In fact, his career was cut short by a severe neck injury suffered in a Monday Night game against the Chicago Bears in the third week of the 1986 season. The next year he decided to try himself as a coach. He announced in an interview about his beginning of coaching career for the Texas A&M team. At first he served under the leadership of the former coach Jackie Sherrill. He also served in public administration for the Texas A&M University. In the 1989 he became assistant football coach at the

Southern Methodist University. In the 1992 he decided to leave for another position at the his alma mater - the University of Pittsburgh, where he continued his work as Assistant Football Coach. In the 1995 he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers team as Assistant Football Coach. He served there until left in the 2004. In the same year he joined the New York Giants team. He served as a defensive coordinator for years and in the 2007 he started his work for the Carolina Panthers team as the secondary coach. Tim has served for the Seattle Seahawks team since 2009, until he left for another position in Atlanta Falcons.

He is currently the secondary coach for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. Since 2015 he additionally, served as secondary coach for the San Francisco 49ers. Tim dreamed of a successful career as a football player, but due to a serious injury, he had to direct his talents in a different direction.
