Cook’s career started with a role for foster care and in a Public Service Announcement, at the age of seven. As a ten-year-old, Cook also worked as a child model for print media and featured in nationwide advertisements of companies such as Target and Milk-Bone. In her early teen years, Cook decided to focus more on acting and began auditioning. Her first film was the comedy-drama The Baby-Sitters Club in 1995, in which she acted when she was only sixteen years old. After which she starred in a short film which was written by and starred Peter Syvertsen, 26 Summer Street. The film was shown in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival in 1997. She also worked in the crime-drama Country Justice in 1997, where she played the role of an impregnated rape survivor. Over the years, Cook starred in several films which include The Bumblebee Flies Away, Josie and the Pussycats, an adaptation of Nancy Drew and the Broken Kingdom.
