Mozhan Marno was born on 3rd May 1980 in Los Angeles, California. There is not much information available about her parents except that her parents are Iranians and found each other in the State of California, the United States. Mozhan spent her early childhood in her hometown and attended a local school to complete her early education. Marno attended a boarding school and received education at Philips Academy Andover, in the State of Massachusetts. Mozhan also attended Barnard College and earned a BA degree in Comparative Literature. Mozhan also joined Yale School of Drama and got an MFA in acting.

Mozhan learned advanced acting and got training at the Public Theater’s Shakespeare Lab in New York and at the Guthrie Theater in Minnesota. Mozhan knows quite a few languages other than English including German, French, Italian, and Persian. Mozhan’s professional career briefly started in the year 2006 when she appeared in an episode of a TV series “The Unit”. In the same year, Marno also appeared in an episode of Standoff. The actress played short roles in the movies “Charlie Wilson’s War”, “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night” and ‘Traitor”. Mozhan also played the title role in a movie “The Stoning of Soraya M.” in which she played a character named Soraya Manutchehri who becomes the victim of her husband’s false accusation and dies by stoning as punishment of the crime she didn’t commit.

Mozhan made an appearance in a lot other TV series as a guest star including Shark, K-Ville, Bones, Medium, The Mentalist, Hung, The Glades, In Plain Sight, The Paul Reiser Show, Ringer, and Madam Secretary. Mozhan’s most appreciated work can be seen in two popular TV series The Blacklist and House of Cards. Mozhan played a role in House of Cards as Ayla Sayyad and appeared in 11 episodes of the season which came out in 2014. Marno has been playing the role of Samar Navabi in The Blacklist since 2014 and appeared in 89 episodes till now. Other than TV and films, the actress has also explored the voice acting and recorded a couple of books as a narrator. Mozhan also played the roles as a voice actress in games including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and 1979 Revolution. Mozhan got good recognition for her work and got nominated for Satellite Awards in 2009 and Screens Actors Guild Awards in 2015.
