Jami Floyd is an American attorney, journalist, media personality, news anchor, political analyst, former White House Fellow and former host of TED Talks on NYC Media. Ford has also served as a former legal source at Al Jazeera American and presently a legal host and analyst at WNYC Radio. The 54-year-old legal practitioner was born on the 10th of September 1964 in New York City, United States to a chief architect father who is black and a white mother. Born to parents of mixed race and raised in Mitchell-Lama housing on the Lower East Side, Ford describes herself as an African American. Being a broadcaster, Ford is famous for her TV series, Jami Floyd: The Best Defense, a talk show that focuses on law and politics.

Having earned a Bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University in 1986 where she studied political science with a focus on journalism, Ford progressed with honors from the UC Berkeley School of Law, University of California, Berkeley. Afterward, Ford got her Masters of Law in 1995 from Stanford Law School. Her career as an attorney started in the California Supreme Court where she functioned as a clerk to Associate Justice Broussard. Ford practiced in civil and criminal law in the firm, Morrison and Foerster.

Upon leaving the firm in 1993, Ford worked in San Francisco Public Defender Office as a trial attorney. Her next office was the Clinton Administration where she worked with Hillary Clinton as well as 4th e Vice President as a speechwriter.

As a broadcaster, Ford began as a reporter and legal analyst on KPIX radio and TV. Her major break during this time was her coverage of the trial of O.J. Simpson. She moved to CBS News in 1995 and also worked with Court TV and ABC News where she remained for 10 years from 1998.

However, in 2005, Ford rejoined court TV to begin her series which she is now known for, Jami Floyd: Best Defense. She has worked as news correspondent, host, reporter, contributor, anchor as well as co-anchor on several programs on TV and radio alike. Such programs are Good Morning America, Nightline, Early Morning News, World News Now, and TED Talks. Ford has also worked with Al Jazeera American before it was finally shut down in 2015. Of worthy note is also her effort as a consulting producer of a movie in 2016. The movie titled OJ: Made in America was nominated for an Oscar reflects the excellence identified with Ford’s works.

The vast broadcaster has several awards and nominations to her credit apart from the recognition as a public scholar for two terms. Ford has been honored with a Gracie Award, Telly Award, the Maggie, two Cine-Golden Eagle Awards as well as a double nomination for an Emmy Award.
