Bijou Lilly Phillips was born on April 1, 1980 in Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut. Her father John Phillips is a musician too. Her mother Geneviève Waïte was native of South Africa and worked as an actress and model. She is the eldest of two children in her family. She has a brother Tamerlane, and three half-siblings, who was named Mackenzie, Jeffrey, and Chynna.


She has made her first appearance as a model in the age of 13, when she became the youngest lady to ever appear on the cover of Italian Vogue. The next year she decided to leave her school and moved to New York City, where she had her own apartment with a housekeeper. During that period she led a wild life, using alcohol and drugs. Later she continued her model career and appeared in numerous popular journals Playboy, Missbehave, Maxim, Stuff and Nylon.

In the 1999 she started her musician career and released studio albums, which was titled “I'd Rather Eat Glass” and several popular singles “When I Hated Him (Don't Tell Me)” and “Hawaii”. In the same year she also has made her debut as an actress. She started with a role of Charlie in the movie “Black and White”. She also appeared in “Sugar Town” with a secondary role.

In the 2000 she played in the film “Almost Famous” along with Kate Hudson. The next year she played in both in the comedy “Tart” and in the drama “Bully”. In the 2007 she appeared with the role of Lorna Doom in the film “starred in What We Do Is Secret”. Previously, she played one of the main roles of Whitney in the horror movie “Hostel: Part II”.

Afterwards, Bijou participated in few movie projects like “Chelsea on the Rocks” and “The Art of Travel”, which both were released in the 2008. The next year was pretty successful for her and she appeared in the films like “Made for Each Other”, “Wake” and “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead”. She also released a documentary film about her life, which was titled “The Heart Is a Drum Machine”. For the last several years, she has made numerous appearances in different movies and TV shows like “The Bridge to Nowhere”, “Black Limousine”, “It's Alive”, “Raising Hope” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”.

She is married to Danny Masterson. Her husband is an actor too and is most recognizable for his role of Steven Hyde from “That ‘70s show”. They exchanged their vows on October 18, 2011, their wedding was in a private castle in Ireland. Bijou and Danny met each other in Las Vegas and started dating since 2004.

In the 2014 she was blessed with a baby girl, who was named Fianna Frances Masterson. Recently she announced about her problem with kidney disease for five years.
