Born on January 24, 1974, to father John A. Helms and mother Pamela Ann in Atlanta, Georgia, Edward Parker Helms spent most of his childhood days growing up with his brother Chris in Atlanta. He did his schooling from The Westminster Schools and graduated in the year 1992 from there. While in school, he loved to play the guitar and was also interested in theatrical arts. He went on to do his geology major from the Oberlin College in Ohio, but later changed his major to film theory and technology.
